ANTOINETTE R
I had a very comfortable 1 and 1/2hour "Driving Refresher Lesson for Seniors" (my particular title!) with Mr. Cliff Y. from 10.30 this morning, Thursday 13th February. I am 74yrs old female and have not driven my car since May 21st last year! I was hospitalised for 4+months last year. During Rehab. my licence expired and I finally renewed it. I have been diving for 50+years.
Cliff began discussing some specific road rules, particularly exiting from one road and turning into another while remaining in the same lane you exited and are now entering., showing me pictorial back-up to this information. Cliff politely listed to my requests about potential shortcomings in my driving, so that I could change any that need to be changed and attended more consciously to lesser driving misdemeanours.
Cliff was a courteous, patient, quietly informing me of the correct driving procedures and rules remaining always the drivin instructor professional.
I came away with x 6 recommendations and reminders:
* x 1 car space gap at all Stop / traffic standstills;
* No underhand steering;
* Hold on, and out of street, on the right hand turn;
* Go slower on the bends;
* Stay behind 1st approach line at traffic lights;
Cliff's special message about police are monitoring and "charging a fee": Do NOT queue across intersections, ever, sign or not!
And, ignore any honks (they're not yours) they are the driver who makes the honks...s/he's the owner.
I had a very enjoyable time behind the wheel, thanks to Cliff Y. Yours in appreciation, Antoinette Riley. 13.02.2025
